West Indies Vs Afghanistan Warm Up – Result

Only one team showed up tonight. After the Pakistan game, one would have expected a better batting performance from West Indies, especially at the top of the order. But it was worse, thanks to Nabi’s spell with the new ball. 4 overs | 2 maidens | 2 runs | 3 wickets. Unbelievable bowling figures from the Afghanistan captain after his team posted 189 on the board on the back of half-centuries from both the openers. Pooran and Chase added 70 runs in 49 deliveries for the fourth wicket. The former got a reprieve on 4 and that ensured him finally getting some runs under his belt. Chase, meanwhile, spent considerable time out in the middle and notched up a 54-ball fifty. Russell struggled throughout his stay at the crease, kept swinging his bat at everything and didn’t middle a single delivery before eventually holing out. It was the perfect game for Afghanistan. West Indies, on the other hand, were hardly competitive for the second time in as many games. Did they take the warm-up fixtures lethargically or do the defending champions have a few issues to address? We’ll find that out in due course. For now, it’s goodbye..
